IBM CATE Description:

The IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert (CATE) certification from IBM Certification was established in 2001 and is aimed at students who are currently employed in the Enterprise network environments, or those who want to find employment in those environments, and want to obtain the IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert (CATE) certification.

The IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert certification certifies that a successful IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert has learnt the knowledge need to perform in-depth analysis, apply complex AIX 5L concepts and provide resolution to critical problems, all in a variety of areas within pSeries and AIX 5L. The successful IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert certified student will have advanced level of AIX 5L knowledge and understanding, both in breadth and depth. These are all fields in the Enterprise network environments.

IBM CATE Prerequisites:

The IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert certification is available to students who have the knowledge and experience required to successfully acquired the IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert certification.

IBM CATE Required Exams:

To be awarded the IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert certification, the IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert student must successfully pass four exams namely; the IBM 000-222 pSeries Administration and Support for AIX 5L V5.3 exam, the IBM 000-180 pSeries Enterprise Technical Support for AIX 5L V5.3 exam, the IBM 000-237 pSeries HACMP for AIX 5L, and the IBM 000-062 IBM System p5 Virtualization Technical Support AIX 5L V5.3 exam. These exams have a difficulty rating of about 3 out of 5 and are thus only a moderately difficult exam. These exams are available in English only.

IBM CATE Recertification:

A successful IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert student will hold the IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert certification for two years only, after which the IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert student must re-validate their IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert certification by retaking and passing the current CATE exams.
